At our summer quarterly meeting this morning, we were proud to share highlights and key takeaways from the 2024 ASC Network benchmarking survey of philanthropic proposal communicators in higher education. Proposal teams come in all shapes and sizes, and this survey is a valuable tool for gaining a deeper understanding of the wide range of ways that peer institutions approach this work.

We sent this 20-question survey to advancement communication leads and proposal specialists at R1 and R2 universities and colleges throughout the U.S. More than 75 respondents answered our call, providing input, perspectives and key data points for the benefit of higher education fundraising communicators and major/principal gift strategists across the nation. Survey respondents will additionally be receiving a comprehensive report of survey data—and as a reminder, respondents’ names and identifying data are kept private in all of the survey results we share.

This 2024 survey was the second iteration of what we expect will become a biennial survey. It builds on and significantly expands the scope of the inaugural 2022 benchmarking survey that led to the origin of the ASC Network—more than tripling our sample size, and broadening and deepening the insights we are able to share with peer institutions nationwide.

We’re delighted to share highlights from the survey here, and we look forward to hearing your thoughts, questions, and ideas for future surveys!
